Destinations Covered :
In its week long trip, the Palace on Wheels meander through Jaipur,
Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Sawai Madhopur, Chittaurgarh, Udaipur, Bharatpur, Agra,
while starting and terminating at Delhi Cantonment Station. The train starts
from the Delhi Cantonment Railway Station and after 8 days it returns back
to the same place succeeding the royal tour of Agra and Rajasthan.
Facilities in the Palace on Wheels :
The facilities on board the Palace on Wheels are marked by affluence and
excitement. The train is self-supported with all the modern amenities and
facilities.
The adornment inside and outside speaks of the rich and royal culture of
the past Rajasthan. The paintings, carved furniture and elegant handicrafts
portray Rajasthan's mesmerizing heritage of art and craftsmanship. The
antique furniture and the elaborately designed costumes of the attendants
create the real royal ambience.
Dining Facility :
There are Maharaja and Maharani restaurants, offering seating arrangements
in groups of twos and fours near the windows. Chefs in the attached pantry
prepare Continental and Indian delicacies, with a particular interest on the
Rajasthani cuisine. Menus are changed seasonally.
Bar Facility :
The bar-lounge is decorated in epoch furniture, created curiously for this
coach. The bar is spacious, offering a choice of both soft and alcoholic
beverages.
Bed Room facility :
Each coach has four sections, done in colours reminiscent of the state, and
marked by its royal emblem. Two of the sections presents double beds while
the other two have train beds. A third bed, for an additional person, or an
accompanying child, is in the form of a fold-away bed on a higher tier. Each
compartment has an attached bath with running hot/cold water and showers,
built-in wardrobes, overhead and night lights, piped music, reading lights
etc.
Lounge Facility :
Lounges are located separately at the end of each coach, made for the
passengers who wants to relax when they wish to move out of their bedrooms.
Here they can unwind with a book or magazine, engage in conversation, or
simply watch the panoramic sights of the great Indian country side.
